Port of Roatán (Coxen Hole)
- When you get off the ship, head to the shopping area and turn right under the double stairway, toward the signs for taxis and "Exit to Town."
- Walk through the independent tour sellers. They'll try hard to sell you an excursion; just tell them you're already booked.
- At the end of that section, turn left, then right, to Gate 1.
- Your driver is right outside Gate 1 with a sign showing your name.

- Turn left toward the port exit gate and walk up the hill.
- Your driver is waiting with a sign showing your last name.
Can't manage the hill? A taxi is $2 per person; tell the driver your private driver is waiting at the gate.
Before you sail: your driver's name and phone number are on your reservation, sent to you before you sail, so you can reach them if you need to. Only go with the person holding a sign with your name.
Questions people ask
What is the best thing to do in Roatán with kids from the cruise port?
Most families love the monkeys at Gumbalimba Park or the sloths and monkeys at Daniel Johnson's, followed by beach time at West Bay Beach. Daniel Johnson's · Island Tour · West Bay Beach Break ($79 per person) and Gumbalimba Park · West Bay Beach Break ($89 per person) are both all ages, with your own private vehicle and driver and round-trip port pickup.
Can kids hold the sloths in Roatán?
No. Since 2025, Honduran law doesn't allow guests to hold, touch or feed sloths, to protect them. Kids still see sloths, monkeys and macaws up close with a guide at Daniel Johnson's or Mayan Eden Eco Park.
Are car seats included?
Yes. Children 3 and under are free, and car seats for them are included. Just tell us their ages when you book.
How old do kids have to be to snorkel?
Ages 6 and up. Everyone who snorkels must be able to swim on their own and be comfortable in open water, and life jackets are provided for all snorkelers.
Is there a glass-bottom boat for kids who can't snorkel?
Yes. A glass-bottom boat lets the whole family see the reef and tropical fish without getting wet. It has to be booked ahead, so add it when you build a custom day.
What age can kids do the zip line?
Gumbalimba Park's zip line is ages 4 and up, and young children go with an instructor. The zip line on our tours near the cruise port, Mayan Zip or Jungle Top, is ages 5 and up (maximum about 295 lb, closed-toe shoes required).
How old do kids have to be for horseback riding?
Ages 12 and up.
Is Gumbalimba Park good for kids?
Yes. Gumbalimba has capuchin monkeys, free-flying macaws and a pirate cave. It doesn't have sloths, so for sloths choose Daniel Johnson's or Mayan Eden.
Will we be back to the ship in time?
Yes. You'll be back at the port an hour or more before all-aboard, every time, by design, so there's no last-minute rush with tired kids. Our Back-to-Ship Promise →
